Fascism
now banned for everyone in Germany
It
was not a media hype when - in the forefront the Schroeder-Fischer government
- the population was called upon to "speak out" and resist
against right-wing extremism. It is a serious demand for the racist and
anti-Semitic attacks gradually prove to become a crucial barrier for
(foreign) investment. Especially inconvenient as the government together
with German industry has just settled the compensation issue for NS-forced
labour and by doing so has managed to protect German trade and war criminals.
The successors of the former bosses in the industry of the Third Reich
do not even hesitate to demand "Berufsverbot" for neonazis
whereas the ministers of internal affairs of the federal states ostentatiously
want the ban of the Nazi party NPD. Not only groups near to the German
Communist Party (DKP) demanded this for years, so did the radical left
time and again. This demand is now taken over by the government , however
what was discussed lately - beginning with face and haircut controls
up to ideological controls in schools and enterprises - has in itself
more than an affinity to the ideas of those who are to be banned. This
is quite inevitably so if it is true that racism stems from the "decent
centre" as they call themselves now. The one brings forth what
it actually wants to prohibit. Therefore it was only consistent that
the Jewish communist Peter Gingold demanded at a rally in Munich on
the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the fascist bomb attack on the
"Oktoberfest" a "ban on fascism for everyone". Since
what is virulent in this country cannot be healed by creating "useful
aliens" who are to disguise Germany´s xenophobic image. The
policy in asylum and social affairs is security policy.
Therefore the authoritative formation from above and the racist violence
from below do not only threaten migrants and refugees but also all those
who are considered "pariahs" of their supposedly "own"
society. That the majority of those who were murdered by Nazis and boneheads
in the past 10 years were homeless, pensioneers and welfare receivers
with a German passport does fit just as well into the political and
social mainstream; however in the public discussion this fact does not
play any significant role.
Self-complacent
up to racist is the attitude of some German left-wing newspapers with
regard to the conflict in Palestine. Whether the monthly magazine "konkret"
or the weekly periodical "Jungle World" - they agree that
a "rioting, islamic mob" only needed the spark which Sharon
delivered with his provocation on the Temple Mountain to ravage amongst
the Jews. Far more than 100 dead Palestinians in only a few weeks -
that is the fault of the Palestinians themselves. Since a right to resist
have only those whose oppression is not simultaneously legitimized by
Germany. The legitimisation of Israel´s expansionist policy -
the Holocaust - makes the Palestinians to canon fodder in the fight
for a clean slate of the German left. Any decency vanishes - for them
it is not even possible to recognise the occupation and expulsion continuing
for 50 years now as the result of German crimes. Might be that an obligation
grows out of this. Instead they swap to racist arrogance and conjuration
theories - according to them the Palestinians together with the German
media - which do not cover up completely the dead Palestinians this
time - and the US threaten to sacrifice the home of the Jews. Here any
means are legitimised. At least manipulating and suppressing news -Sharon´s
visit is minimised to a private visit only to be found outraging by
religious zealots. In fact Scharon was "accompanied" by1,200
soldiers and policemen. And it was the same attitude as in 1982 before
Beirut when the commander Sharon allowed the brutal murder of 1,500
Palestinian civilians in the camps Sabra and Schatila in only one night
under the floodlights of the Zahal-army. At that time the Jewish poet
Erich Fried considered Scharon to be a "mass murderer" - today
the "desecretion of the Joseph-grave" is the proof for the
fundamental anti-Semitism of the Palestinian Arabs. As a matter of fact
the attack was primarily directed against a Jewish settlers´outpost
which Jewish clerics declared to the "Joseph-grave", occupied
and built up to a military enclave - all this without Israel´s
official recognition . The lynching of two Israeli reservists justified
bombs on Palestinian cities and villages. On the eve of Yom Kippur in
some cities of the occupied territories - but also within Israel - pogroms
against Palestinians and Palestinian Israelis took place. In the pogrom
five people were murdered. Imagine the Syrian Air Force would have bombarded
Tel Aviv as a result. After the meeting of Sharm El-Shaikh they write
about a "cease-fire" demanded by Barak and not to be pushed
through by Arafat. A cease-fire is the agreement between two armies
- between an occupying force and the population of an occupied territory
a cease-fire is inconceivable.
A German
left not existing as a forceful factor for a long time by now does not
want to know anything about that anymore. They keep silent, relativise
the facts or defend unscrupulously Israeli snipers and marauding Jewish
settlers. That is exactly the point - if the supposed enemies of nationalist
ideas become friends of those who defend their fatherland, then the
denied "national question" is just as instrumental as the
question of "human rights". As it is necessary. And it is
possible as long others and not they themselves have to bear the consequences.
The result of such a logic is to return to apologise the government
and oppression structures - considering Israel to be the latest victim
of the New World Order (konkret) and the rebellion of the oppressed
a "ravaging mob" (Jungle World). And at such a mob one can
only shoot at - with sharp ammunition, of course. Then the shot children
are not any longer victims of the Israeli state terrorism but a "highly
desired corpus delicti proving the viciousness of Israel" (Gremliza)-
such a shameless arrogance of the left against human beings was rare
. In 1891 Achad Haam - one of the founding fathers of the cultural Zionism-
visited Palestine. About the European settlers he wrote under the title
"The Truth from Palestine": "Slaves they used to be in
the Diaspora, all of a sudden they found themselves free and this change
evoked their tendency to despotism. They treat Arabs with hostility
and cruelty, they deprive them from their rights, offend them without
reason and do evenboast with it. And nobody of us stands up against
this contemptuous and dangerous situation." There is nothing to
add from our side.
Has
this editorial something to do with the activities of Libertad! Yes,since
it shows the limits of our activities and influence, shows how near
we are to helpless commentaries - even if we are still outraged. Yes
since it is difficult in view of these facts not to become cynical.
Nevertheless we want to emphasise our solidarity with this new Palestinian
Intifada. The solidarity does not include the consent to all aims of
the resistance groups, but defends the fundamental right to revolt against
any kind of forced dominance as the starting point of social emancipation.
In Palestine and Israel, too. Because only then solidarity is not only
tactical and justified criticism can become concrete. Everthing else
belongs to the ideology of identity respectively its justification.
